As an artist I have some very direct goals. Comforting the damaged and providing focus for those with ADHD. My ultimate success is when my work evokes involuntary laughter, both immediately and upon further study. Or revulsion. Hypocrisies, oxymorons, paradoxes and other such absurdities are subjected to dry satire, visual jokes or metaphorical realizations. My sculptural, video, and written efforts divert primarily into two fields. Poetry fuels individual works relating visual metaphors in sculpture and film. The other is my science fiction fantasy that deals in diaspora, autism, neurological plasticity, and damage recovery. From this realm I am creating items as well as miniature scale sets to incorporate into video. This combination results in anvils suspended by questionable means, brains made in walnut or bubbling in strange devices, puppets made of steel, wood and printed card, silent films with an absurdist/sublime take, or satirical, gruesome dioramas. I use any medium to achieve my goals. Detritus as my preferred source material, I use metals incorporating blacksmithing and jewelry techniques as well as modern welding technology. Ceramics employing raku techniques, plaster casting, resin casting and woodworking all play their part in the rendering. These traditional methods of work are being augmented by my digital designs to both fabricate creations and create specialized tools for traditional applications.
